FAQ

This roundup should answer all your questions.

Security, data, and backup

  • Is our data safe and secure?

Absolutely. We store your data on secure servers that are backed up daily. We protect your RDM on Demand account with hash based password security, inactive session time-outs and SSL-based security which is the same security used on credit card pages and banking websites.

In addition, no RDM on Demand staff member will ever view your installation data without your express permission. The data is held in database tables to which our staff has limited access. Absolute integrity is guaranteed on our part.

  • What is your backup policy?

We run backups of all RMD on Demand databases daily. The backups are stored at a secure external facility.

We keep 30 backups of your account.

We use Amazon S3 for safe and secure file storage. Amazon S3 provides a highly durable storage infrastructure designed for mission-critical and primary data storage. Files are redundantly stored on multiple devices across multiple facilities in an Amazon S3 Region.

  • Do you use HTTPS/SSL?

Yes, we provide SSL connections for all RDM on Demand sites. This ensures that your communication with our server is safe.

  • Where are your servers located?

Our servers are with Amazons AWS and are hosted within the US and Europe. AWS infrastructure is housed in Amazon-controlled data centers. The data centers themselves are secured with a variety of physical controls to prevent unauthorized access.

  • Who has access to the servers?

Only selected Ataccama staff have authorization to access the servers. We also have a code of ethics that ensures that we will never breach customer confidentiality. All servers within the AWS cloud have secure architecture and contain a number of capabilities that restrict unauthorized access or usage without sacrificing the flexibility that customers demand.

  • What are the certifications and accreditations in AWS?

Please refer to the AWS Cloud Security site for further details.

Requirements, browser support

  • Do I need an Internet connection to use RDM on Demand?

RMD on Demand is a web based application requiring a high-speed Internet connection.

We recommend bandwidth of 3Mbs or higher, with a ping of under 50ms. Your needs may vary based on your network traffic and your connection consistency/signal strength.

To test your speed, we recommend doing a speed test against the servers to get an idea of what you can expect.

You may still run into issues with a high-speed connection if you have a weak Internet signal or have sporadic connection issues.

  • How much data does RDM on Demand require?
On average, RDM on Demand transfers about 16,000 B/s, or about 55 MB/h.
  • What are the supported browsers?

Any modern browser is perfect for running RDM on Demand. You may use Internet Explorer 9, 10 or 11, Firefox, Safari, and Google Chrome.

Please note that if running Internet Explorer 8, RDM on Demand is not going to function or look great. We recommend installing Google Chrome Frame. Internet Explorer 8 support is being phased out.

Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7 are not supported.
